Why beeswax, you may ask.

Beeswax is chemical free. It is naturally scented by the honey. It has been called a natural ionizer, which I am still on the fence about. But, since it is chemical free, I believe it to be better for those with asthma and others with sensitivities. Beeswax acts as a surfactant, forming a barrier on the surface of the skin. This barrier is a protection against irritants while still allowing the skin to breathe. When added to skin care products, beeswax acts as an emolient and a humectant, drawing moisture to the skin and sealing it in. And, according to studies, beeswax has potential mild antibacterial properties. For candle purposes, beeswax has the highest melting point among other popular waxes, resulting in a longer burn time. How does this compare to paraffin or soy waxes? Paraffin is a black sludge that is treated with 100% industrial strength bleach to change its color to white creating toxic dioxins. Acrolyn is then added to solidify the now white sludge.  Soy candles and melting tarts will spoil without preservatives. Bleach and other chemicals are added to soy that enable it to hold scent. many soy candles are made from genetically modified crops sprayed with pesticides. By burning soy or paraffin products, you are releasing those chemicals back into your space. EEEK!
